Referrals & Fees

Medicare

 

Allison is a registered Medicare Clinical Psychology provider (PSY0001619738). In order to claim a rebate under Better Access Initiative (Medicare) you will need to make an appointment with your General Practitioner who will conduct an assessment. If you meet the relevant criteria (speak to your General Practitioner) you will be given a Mental Health Care Plan under the Better Access Initiative, which can provide Medicare funded access Psychology sessions. If you are claiming a rebate under the Better Access Initiative Allison is required to provide a report to your General Practitioner at session six and ten. This report only contains general information as well as any questionnaires completed and recommendations for future care. 

 

Please make sure you bring to your first appointment the referral letter and Mental Health Care Plan so that you'll be able to claim the rebate.

Private Health

 

Allison is also a registered provider with the major health care funds. Welch Psychology has HICAPS facilities. With private health insurance, you may be eligible to claim partial costs of the consultation fee. The exact amount of the rebate will depend upon your level of cover, and the rebate varies between health funds. It is best to check with your fund for an exact per session rebate figure.


Please note: You can only claim through Medicare or Private Health Insurance for each session and for abbreviated group therapy sessions private health rebates may not be applicable.

Fees and Payment

 

Individual consultation is 50-minutes in duration. As a Clinical Psychologist with endorsement from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA), clients receiving care under the Better Access Initiative will be eligible to receive a rebate of $128.40. If you are Accepted methods of payment include: Bankcard, Visa, and Mastercard. Please note that Welch Psychology does not accept American Express or Diners, and cash for payment. *Please note that Welch Psychology can not accept any new individual referrals due to high demand for services at this time.

Psychology Initial Individual Consultation $215.00.

Initial consults with Allison is exclusive to a single session. Any appointments following your initial consultation are to be booked as a follow up consult for the same amount. *Please note that Welch Psychology can not accept any new individual referrals due to high demand for services at this time.

Psychology Group Therapy 

Group therapy costs at Welch Psychology are for multiple sessions condensed into a two day abbreviated format. Fees are able to be paid online with Paypal or Credit Card. Receipts are sent via email. Welch Psychology group sessions are not eligible for the Medicare rebate.

Professional Development 

Professional development costs at Welch Psychology are for multiple sessions condensed into a two day abbreviated format. Fees are able to be paid online with Paypal or Credit Card. Receipts are sent via email. Professional Development sessions are not eligible for the Medicare rebate. 

 

Extended and after hours (from 5 pm) consultations are also available and will attract an additional fee. This does not include group therapy or professional development sessions.

Welch Psychology also offers both educational, learning, behavioural, cognitive, achievement  and personality assessment for both children and adults. 

 

Current Cognitive and Achievement Assessments Offered:

  • WIAT-III Australian and New Zealand

  • WAIS-IV Australian and New Zealand

All on Q-interactive - Clinical Assessments for IPad technology

Current Personality Assessments Offered:

  • The Personality Inventory for DSM-V from the American Psychiatric Association

Prices vary according to the complexity of report requirements. Please enquire directly with Welch Psychology for a quote.

Cancellation and Reschedule Policy

If you are unable to keep an existing individual appointment or would like to reschedule, Welch Psychology requires at least 24 hours notice, preferably 48 hours notice. The 24 hour notice is required as a courtesy to Allison and other clients who may require care. Appointments that are cancelled or not attended within this time period will be charged a cancellation fee equivalent to 100% attendance, as though you had arrived for the session and is non-refundable. This charge will not be claimable through Medicare.

Interruptions in Therapy

 

In the event of expected interruptions to therapy (e.g., vacation, long-term absences), Allison will discuss this with the client and provide a referral to another psychologist. In the case of unexpected interruptions to therapy (e.g., the psychologist is incapacitated through ill-health, injury or death), the receptionist will inform your general practitioner to make further plans for longer care.
